This accessibility statement applies to the Redcar Fundseekers website at https://redcarfundseekers.org.uk. Redcar & Cleveland Voluntary Development Agency (RCVDA) runs the site, in partnership with Tees Valley Rural Action (TVRA).
We want as many people as possible to use this site. We have designed it to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, and we have aimed for two AAA criteria around keyboard focus. You should be able to:
- Zoom in up to 400% without text spilling off the screen.
- Navigate every page using only a keyboard.
- Navigate every page using a screen reader.
- Listen to most of the site using your device’s built-in speech features.
- Read every page in light or dark mode, with high-contrast text in either.
- Turn off animations if movement bothers you.
- Increase the text size, open up the spacing, and underline links for easier reading.
We write the text on this site in plain English. We also aim to keep funder pages and funding programme pages short, scannable, and well structured.
The accessibility panel
This site has a built-in Accessibility panel. A floating button in the bottom-right corner of every page — marked with an accessibility icon — opens a short menu of display settings you can switch on or off:
- Dark mode — a darker colour scheme that is easier on the eyes in low light.
- Larger text — increases the text size across the whole site.
- Reduce motion — removes animations and movement.
- Readable spacing — opens up the space between lines, words, and letters.
- Underline links — underlines links within text so they do not rely on colour alone.
A Reset all option clears your choices and returns everything to its default. By default the site also follows your device’s own settings for dark mode and reduced motion, so if you have set those at the system level the site respects them automatically. Your choices are saved in your browser, stored only on your device, and persist between visits — you can change or clear them at any time. The panel opens and works with a keyboard or a screen reader.
How accessible this website is
We believe most of this site meets WCAG 2.2 Level AA. A small number of places fall short, and we list them under “Known accessibility issues” below.

Reporting accessibility problems
We always want to improve the accessibility of this site. If you find a problem we have not listed below, or you think we are not meeting accessibility requirements, please tell us at [email protected].
When you write, please tell us:
- The page address where you found the problem.
- A short description of what went wrong.
- The assistive technology you were using, if any — screen reader, magnifier, voice control.
- The browser and device you were using, if you know.
We will acknowledge your message within five working days and then tell you what we plan to do next.
Enforcement procedure
If you contact us with a complaint and you are not happy with our response, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS). The EASS gives free advice on discrimination and human rights under the Equality Act 2010.
We are not a public-sector body. The formal route under the Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations 2018 — referral to the Equality and Human Rights Commission via the EASS — is therefore not directly available. The EASS can still advise you on your rights under the Equality Act, which does apply.
Technical information about this website’s accessibility
RCVDA is committed to making this site accessible, in line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and the Equality Act 2010.
Compliance status
This site is partially compliant with the WCAG 2.2 Level AA standard, with the non-compliances and exemptions listed below. We are working through the non-compliances on the rolling improvement plan described at the end of this statement.
Known accessibility issues
We know about the following issues and have a plan to address each one.
- Some downloaded documents (PDFs and Word files) we link to may not meet accessibility standards. We are working through the documents on the site, either replacing them with accessible alternatives or removing them where we no longer need them.
- Funder logos sometimes appear without alternative text where the source dataset did not provide one. We fall back to the funder’s own name as alternative text when the dataset is silent. In some edge cases this gives a less informative alt text than a hand-written one would.

Content not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
Even though the accessibility regulations do not directly apply to RCVDA, we exclude the following on the same grounds a public-sector statement would.
- The WordPress admin area. Only RCVDA staff and authorised editors use it. It is third-party software, and we cannot reasonably modify it.
- External websites we link to — funder websites, partner organisations, regulators, data publishers. Each has its own accessibility statement.
- Older PDFs and Word documents published before this statement, where they are not essential to using our services and where producing an accessible alternative would be a disproportionate burden. We will produce an accessible version on request.
How we tested this website
We last reviewed this site in June 2026. The review covered the public pages: the homepage, the funder directory, individual funder pages, the funding directory, individual funding programme pages, the guidance pages, and these legal pages. Our testing consisted of:
- An internal audit of the site’s templates, stylesheet, and live pages against WCAG 2.2 Level AA, covering heading structure, landmark regions, form labelling, link text, target sizes, alternative text, the “skip to content” link, and the colour palette in both light and dark mode.
- Manual keyboard-only navigation, including the Accessibility panel.
- Automated testing with WAVE (WebAIM) and axe DevTools across the public page types, fixing the issues each tool surfaced.
We have not yet carried out manual screen reader testing; this is on our improvement plan below. We have also not commissioned an independent external audit of this site, and we do not currently plan to do so. Our testing is self-assessment only.
Preparation of this accessibility statement
RCVDA first prepared this accessibility statement on 25 May 2026 following self-assessment. We last reviewed and updated it on 9 June 2026, after an internal accessibility audit and the addition of the Accessibility panel described above. It is reviewed at least once every 12 months, or sooner if the site changes materially.
What we’re doing to improve accessibility
We aim to keep improving the accessibility of this site. Our current work includes:
- Carrying out manual screen reader testing (for example with NVDA and VoiceOver).
- Working through legacy documents linked from the site and replacing or removing those that are not accessible.
- Confirming that the “skip to content” link moves keyboard focus into the main content on every page type.
- Reviewing this accessibility statement at least once every 12 months, or sooner if the site changes materially.
